Myspace was meaningfully only because I met Los Recyclers! I am such a big fan of them and sympathize very much with their musicality. A theme of the remix is a "power failure" = "Apagon" (In Spanish). They used to live in Cuba and are now in Okinawa (southwestern islands in Japan).

The remix by Little Nobody, Andrew Bergen who is from Melbourne, familiar with a Japanese techno music scene and a boss of IF? Records. He finished 3 experimental glitchy mixes (one of them is released on "Various Artists: Iffy Bizness Vol. 2") and they were combined into 1 mix by TOSHIYUKI YASUDA.
As regards the album title "RENIX", I crack that original "nothing" = "NIX" ones are reworked and concluded to "nothing" again. A pun.

Some things don’t change, like Andrez Bergen’s love for things robotic.
The name of his new vinyl EP is ‘Robota’, and Little Nobody shanghaied Japanese producer Toshiyuki Yasuda (one of Si Begg’s favorite musicians, and who’d just finished working with Señor Coconut, a.k.a Atom Heart) into the arrangement – to do gorgeous, robot-style vocoder vocals as Robo*Brazileira.
To do their very own wind-up remixes of that killer combo – all of whom criss-cross contemporary dance music styles in dazzling new ways – we lassooed in the insanely respected Mr. Steve Stoll (Proper NYC/NovaMute/Djax-Up-Beats/Harthouse) and Dave Tarrida (Tresor/Musick/Neue Heimat/Feinwerk).
Rounding out the superlative remixing troupe here is Germany’s Cem Oral (Jammin’ Unit/Ultrahigh/4E), the genius behind Cube 40’s‘Bad Computa’ and the Air Liquide classic ‘This is Not a Mind Trip’.
Finally, Little Nobody tackles fellow Aussie Simon Nielsen (DJ Hi-Shock of Elektrax fame) in a collaborative techno free-for-all that is one moment the purist, glorious tech sound DJ Hi-Shock is famous for; the next it’s wild acid; then it all segues into wonderfully eclectic electronica in the terrain of Little Nobody and Funk Gadget – full of winding-down robotic noises and glitches.
Completely innovative and quite unlike anything you think you may have heard before, this is machine-based disco-funk-tech for the next decade.

Strangers', subtitled 'Soundtracks for Digi+Kishin', is sourced from the divine headpace of one of Si Begg's favourite musicians and an occasional Senor Coconut (a.k.a Uwe Schmidt) collaborator: None other than Toshiyuki Yasuda, a man on the cusp of greatness in Japan's illustrious electronic music fraternity. While too many superlatives may have been shoved into that one sentence, there's no better way to describe Yasuda and his music.
Starting out proceedings is 'Anber', a track that compresses together Yasuda's cut-up technique, a sprinkling of his side-project Robo*Brazileira, South Asian samples possibly snatched from a Bollywood extravaganza, tribalesque drum patterns, and a sentiment somehow similar to fellow Japanese producer Susumu Hirasawa - in particular his soundtrack for the anime movie Millennium Actress.
And this is just the beginning of an inspired album's worth of material that drifts from the quirky into the sublimely cool, stand-outs being 'Pink House' and 'Desgouster'.
I love this deceptively simple opus, as simple as that.

iTunes Review
Digi+Kishin
Kitschy and bizarre rhythmic soundtracks for Kishin Shinoyama’s photo movies. The theme is "ordinary strangeness" that photographical models, a celebrated photographer, a humble musician and all of you possess commonly.
This album consists of reconstructions of my compositions (mainly weird rhythmic tunes) since 2006 for Digi+Kishin (an alias of Kishin Shinoyama)'s photo movies, which has a different direction from "GIRLS (Soundtracks for Digi+Kishin Vol. 1)" released on February 2009.
I realize that there are roughly two types in Digi+Kishin's pieces. Both are full of powers that expose girls' insides. But on one type girls' dark faces are captured indoors closely and lead into their two faces directly, while on the other type their whole energetic dancing bodies beaming with joys at very fine outdoors are captured. In a complicated therefore real meaning, I think the latter expresses their ironies more strongly than the former.
I have been gazing at girls' sprinkling smiles and nudes under the perfectly bright sunshine with a prickle, like through the eyes of Meursault (Camus "L'Étranger"). The viewpoint never makes their strangeness a minority nor despises them from a secure place. On the contrary my own similar oddity is attached as theirs are everyone-has ordinary and individual. Of course the whole pieces of work are led by Mr. Shinoyama's pure peculiarity and have a capacity for accepting one's general uniqueness. With a monster's deep smile, murmuring "it's not uncommon to be strange" and melting in secret under the blazing sun.

Hot on the precariously high heels of celebrating 15 years on the go and their 100th release since 1995 comes this enticing second showcase compilation of Tokyo/Melbourne label IF? Records.
IF? have spent the past 12 months putting out a rash of somewhat eclectic but never less than scintillating releases from Luke’s Anger, Dasha Rush, Wyndell Long, Little Nobody, Son Of Zev, DJ Fodder, Takashi Watanabe (DJ Warp), Alone Together, Enclave, Koda, Dave Tarrida, Ben Pest, Donk Boys, Toshiyuki Yasuda and others – with great feedback arising every now and then from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Claude Young, Orlando Voorn, Jerome Hill, Ken Ishii, Anthony Shakir and Steve Poindexter.
Compiled by DJ Hi-Shock and IF? label boss Andrez Bergen, ‘Iffy Bizness Vol. 2′ follows straight on from the hugely successful first compilation released last year, and explores the IF? label’s wonderful slower techno moments, the infectious tech-house they’ve slipped through, and some asides into intelligent glitch-minimalism that we actually dig – a whole lot.
Come with us to explore a global bucket-load of tunes made by talented musicians both famous and not (quite yet), conjuring up tunes in an atmosphere where the only label perimeters have always been to “do what you do best, and make what you’d prefer to make”.
Innovative, fascinating, and straight out lovely – this is the future as much as it’s been the past for 15 strong years.
Thanks, too, for listening and giving these tracks half a chance to impress!

COMPILATION
LITTLE NOBODY, TOSHIYUKI YASUDA: Split 12-Inch Minus Vinyl #7
[IF? IF102]
01. Toshiyuki Yasuda - "Pink House" (Little Nobody remix)
02. Little Nobody - "Nobody's Driving" (Toshiyuki Yasuda remix)
One of IF?'s favourite, more cooly quirky Japanese artists (who's also worked with Señor Coconut) gets together with our label founder to rehash each other's tunes, namely Toshiyuki's 'Pink House' and Andrez's 'Nobody's Driving'. Yum.
Just in time for Christmas – and the length of Tosiyuki’s remix even matches the catalogue number!
(IF?)
As the title suggests, this seventh in Japanese label IF?'s ongoing 'virtual' 12 inch series offers up a tie-in with the festive season, with label boss (and expat Melburnian) Little Nobody and Japanese producer Toshiyuki Yasuda (who's previously worked with Senor Coconut) doing a remix swap on each other's tracks. Little Nobody kicks things off with a reworking of Yasuda's 'Pink House' that sets the controls for stripped-back techno, with sparse snares and kickdrums gliding out over a curiously undulating backdrop of sub-bass murmurs, synthetic bleeps and vaguely ragga-centric keys. On the 'flip' meanwhile Yasuda offers up a reworking of Little Nobody's 'Nobody's Driving' that sends clattering, stutter-edited brass samples and hiphop breaks ricocheting all over the place ala Prefuse 73, all whilst coming in at just a shade over a minute in running length. A late Xmas pressie from IF? that's well worth chasing.
